When you click on an icon to rename a file in the System 7 Finder, there is a small delay to prevent users from mistakenly renaming their files. In System 6, there was no delay, so that you could instantly rename files. Many users find this delay annoying since it slows them down. (This is certainly understandable since most users use computers to make them more productive, not less!)
With the System 7 Pack!, you can change this delay or even eliminate it entirely. The Rename Delay box contains a slider which you can use to change the rename delay. To turn it off, drag the slider down towards No Delay. Most users will either turn the delay off or leave it on, since it is almost impossible to make distinctions between settings in the middle. Personally, I’ve turned the rename delay off on my Mac.
